Short day

I was blissfully shopping early in the day for furniture and as usual came home empty handed. I tell you, if you have taste, then you got to have more ka-ching! 

This was my preppy serious attire to work today; I think I dress the most serious at my new work place. Oh well, never wanted to blend in anyways.

Multitasking

I may have mentioned that I love my job? What I did not mention is all the other things I happen to accomplish while at work. See below: 

1. Chatting online the entire 8.5 hours I'm there. 

2. Managing to fall in love with a different military man every day. 

3. Breaking some form of technology weekly (the shredder, the printer, my laptop). I'm pretty sure the IT guy is a real fan of mine.

4. Planning foreign vacations. 

5. Pulling on a stray thread for a couple hours and then screaming after realizing that the thread was really what was holding my skirt together. Wardrobe malfunctions are my specialty, thankyouverymuch.

Turtleneck time

I am finally figuring out how to take pics alone b/c I don't have my brain aka my roommate anymore (tear). Making improvements, slowly but surely :)

I love turtlenecks that fit well. They are super professional for work but also have an undertone of sensuality.  Voila!

Bonjour!

I do not understand why my camera takes pictures with different background lights in the same room. Eh! This is not what I want to talk about. What I'd really like to talk about is how much I love goat cheese. And my obsession with French - the language. That's right people, my evenings will now consist of me taking French lessons while enjoying some fromage de chèvre. Oui! One day, ladies, I will write an entry post in Francais!

Lady in the winter

For me, winter is a challenging time for fairy/whimsical like outfits which definitely has a effect on my mood (sigh, of course). So here is my triumph in the cold winter of Boston. Oh and yes, the only souvenir I got  from the Harvard Museum is the ring, hey it's hard to find amber.

Portion Control

The best way to ensure effective portion control? Wear a pencil skirt. Two things will happen. 1 - You will stop breathing after two bites ensuring that you no longer want to or are able to eat any more of your lunch you spent 1.5 hours making last night. 2 - You will walk around a lot more than usual because you want to show off said skirt.

Back to Simplicity

Um well this is what I do best, simple touches...

Sweaters are hard to work with, especially if you are not in your best shape ;-) so a belt always helps and of course stripes hide weak spots like the tummy. This is a tip to remember, at least for some of us, when swim suits come around!

Menswear-inspired

You know the girl who puts on makeup at the traffic light and drinks her juice out of her glass while driving in the morning? That's me. It's official. I'm not a morning person. I don't wake up in time to eat breakfast sitting down or perfect my makeup before I stroll out the door. I'm the person who runs out the door with 3 bags (I'm also the bag lady) while splashing her orange juice all over the hallway. I've reconciled myself to the fact that I'll never be the person who gets to work early and out early. Nope. But, I happen to love my job and the work that I do. Maybe that's why I'm always running out the door? ;)

Last Shenanigans in the City

First post remotely, away from VA :( The apt is at least pretty nice, definitely an upgrade though that is not hard to do, someone of you know what I mean.

 I've been wanting to wear this dress for a long time and this was a perfect occasion: the celebration of a diva! (aka G) :)

Birthday Surprise

L and some of my other friends surprised me for my birthday last night! I had a wonderful time. I really do have the greatest friends! :) 

Sorry for the lack of posts this week but between it being my first week of work and L moving today, there wasn't enough time for posting. Regular programming resumes next week!

Thanksgiving

This was my thanksgiving outfit. There are pretty gold buttons on the left shoulder of the sweater but of course I hid them with the hair. My bad. But you bet I'll be wearing this sweater again for work next week, so better pictures then! Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and black friday!

Arlington Preppy

On the go

When things are so clean-cut and neat, I like to bring a little chaos on top: mussed hair (though I have to mention this is after running around in the wind).  Today was the day of errands. Also, can I please say something, the fact that it feels like midnight at five doesn't help with taking pics---sorry for the lack of lighting.

Standing Out

I went shopping for new work clothes in this outfit. People kept staring at me the entire time! I don't know if it was the pop of yellow in a sea of black, brown and navy or that people thought it was super cute or they were pitying me because I obviously didn't own a mirror. I keep telling myself it was the super cute thing because it makes me feel better. 

In less embarrassing news, I got a ton of cute work type of clothes and finally organized my closet! Woohoo! Applause please. :)

Last Week of Freedom

Excuse the tired, sleepy eyes but this happens to be my last week of sleeping in late, napping and basically, acting like I'm in undergrad. I start my first big-girl job in a week. Eek! But that just means getting to dress up like a professional who actually knows what she's doing. Woohoo!
